The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount 1 By the book inscribed. 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 By the House Frequented. 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 there is none to avert it. 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
