Do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We will give sustenance to all of you. To kill them is certainly a great sin. 31 And come not near unto adultery. Lo! it is an abomination and an evil way. 32 (ix) Do not kill any person whom Allah has forbidden to kill, except with right. We have granted the heir of him who has been wrongfully killed the authority to (claim retribution); so let him not exceed in slaying. He shall be helped. 33 And do not touch the substance of an orphan, save to improve it, before he comes of age. And be true to every promise - for, verily, [on Judgment Day] you will be called to account for every promise which you have made! 34 Fill the measure when ye measure, and weigh with a right balance; that is meet, and better in the end. 35 And go not thou after that where of thou hast no knowledge verily the hearing and the sight and the heart, each of these shall be asked about. 36 (xiv) Do not strut about in the land arrogantly. Surely you cannot cleave the earth, nor reach the heights of the mountains in stature. 37 Of all such things the evil is hateful in the sight of thy Lord. 38 That is part of that wisdom which thy Lord hath revealed unto thee, and set not up thou along with Allah another god, lest thou be cast into Hell, reproved, rejected. 39 Has then your Lord (O pagans of Makkah) preferred for you sons, and taken for Himself from among the angels daughters. Verily! You utter an awful saying, indeed. 40
