The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Alif-Laam-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language; Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 This is the Book (the Quran), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqun [the pious and righteous persons who fear Allah much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)]. 2 Who believe in the Unseen, and establish worship, and spend of that We have bestowed upon them; 3 And who believe in this (Qur’an) which has been sent down upon you, O beloved Prophet, (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) and what was sent down before you; and are certain of the Hereafter. 4 These depend on guidance from their Lord. These are the successful. 5 As for those who have rejected (these things), it is all the same to them whether you warn them or do not warn them: they are not going to believe. 6 God has sealed their hearts and their ears, and over their eyes there is a covering. They will have a terrible punishment. 7
