And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and on whom We had bestowed the good things of this life, said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: he eats of that of which ye eat, and drinks of what ye drink. 33 and, indeed, if you pay heed to a mortal like yourselves, you will surely be the losers! 34 "Does he promise you that when you have died and have become dust and bones, you shall come out alive (resurrected)? 35 ۞ Begone, begone, with that which ye are promised! 36 This is our only life. We live and will die but we will never be brought back to life again. 37 He is but a man who hath fabricated against God a lie, and in him we are not going to be believers. 38 He said, 'O my Lord, help me, for that they cry me lies.' 39 Said Allah, “They will soon wake up at morn, regretting.” 40 So the shriek seized them in truth, and We made them as [plant] stubble. Then away with the wrongdoing people. 41 Then We raised after them other generations. 42 No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it). 43 Thereafter We sent Our apostles, successively. So oft as there came unto a community their apostle, they belied him, so We made them follow one another, and We made them bywords; so away with a people who believe not! 44 We then sent Moosa and his brother Haroon, with Our signs and a clear proof. 45 unto Pharaoh and his Council; but they waxed proud, and they were a lofty people, 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves? And their people are subject to us!" 47 So they denied them – therefore became of those who were destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Moosa the Book, that they may attain guidance. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and gave them shelter on a peaceful hillside watered by a fresh spring. 50
