۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 “Instead of Allah – and herd them to the path leading to hell.” 23 And stop them; verily they are to be questioned: 24 How is it that you are not helping one another? 25 In fact, on that day they will be submissive. 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 “So the Word of our Lord has proved true upon us; we will surely have to taste (the punishment).” 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 So verily on that Day they all in the torment will be sharers. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do - 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 In Gardens of peace. 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 And they will all turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 50 A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade 51 Who used to say: 'Are you one of those who can testify to the truth? 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 Do you want to see him?' " 54 Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For this the toilers should strive." 61 Is that better by way of hospitality or the Zaqqum tree, 62 For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, 67 They can only return to hell. 68 Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 And indeed before them, most of the former people went astray. 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 and behold, how was the end of them that were warned, 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
