The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
