The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 Has created Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him) as the soul of mankind. 3 And taught him to express clearly. 4 The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). 5 the stars and the trees bend in prostration. 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 (Transgress not in the Balance, 8 and weigh with justice, and skimp not in the Balance.) 9 It is He Who has spread out the earth for (His) creatures: 10 Therein is fruit and palms having sheathed clusters, 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created man of clay like, unto pottery. 14 whereas the invisible beings He has created out of a confusing flame of fire. 15 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 16 (He is) Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests: 17 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 18 He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together, 19 There is a barrier between them. They encroach not (one upon the other). 20 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 21 Pearls and corals come forth from both of them. 22 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 23 To Him only belong the sailing ships, raised above the sea like hills. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
