O (you) Messengers! Eat of the Taiyibat [all kinds of Halal (legal) foods which Allah has made legal (meat of slaughtered eatable animals, milk products, fats, vegetables, fruits, etc.)], and do righteous deeds. Verily! I am Well-Acquainted with what you do. 51 And verily, this community of yours is one single community, since I am the Sustainer of you all: remain, then, conscious of Me! 52 But then they divided up their order into different creeds, each section rejoicing in what it had come to have. 53 So leave them in their bewilderment for a while. 54 Do they fancy that Our continuing to give them wealth and children (means) that 55 We vie in good works for them? Nay, but they are not aware. 56 Only those who are, out of fear of Him, humble before their Lord, 57 who believe in the revelations of their Lord, 58 And they who do not associate anything with their Lord 59 And those who dispense their charity with their hearts full of fear, because they will return to their Lord;- 60 Are the ones who hasten to goodness and outpace the others. 61 And [withal.] We do not burden any human being with more than he is well able to bear: for with Us is a record that speaks the truth [about what men do and can do]; and none shall be wronged. 62 Yet their hearts are oblivious of this; and besides, they are busy with other things, 63 until - after We shall have taken to task, through suffering, those from among them who [now] are lost in the pursuit of pleasures - they cry out in [belated] supplication. 64 (It will be said): "Groan not in supplication this day: for ye shall certainly not be helped by Us. 65 Our revelations had certainly been recited to you, but you turned your backs to them 66 In pride (they Quraish pagans and polytheists of Makkah used to feel proud that they are the dwellers of Makkah sanctuary Haram), talking evil about it (the Quran) by night. 67 Have they not pondered the saying, or came there upon them that which came not upon their fathers, the ancients? 68 Or did you not recognize your Messenger and, thus, denied him (Muhammad) 69 Or do they say that there is madness in him? Nay, he has brought them the Truth and it is the Truth that most of them disdain. 70 But if the truth were in accord with their own likes and dislikes, the heavens and the earth would surely have fallen into ruin, and all that lives in them [would long ago have perished]! Nay, [in this divine writ] We have conveyed unto them all that they ought to bear in mind: and from this their reminder they [heedlessly] turn away! 71 Are you asking them for something? What Allah has given you is the best. He is the Best of providers. 72 Assuredly thou art calling them to a straight path; 73 but, behold, those who will not believe in the life to come are bound to deviate from that way. 74 ۞ Were We to be merciful to them and remove from them their present afflictions, they would persist in their transgression, blindly wandering on. 75 Already We have seized them with the punishment, but they neither humbled themselves to their Lord, nor did they beseech Him, 76 So that when at last We open up the gate of severe punishment on them they will be overwhelmed with despair. 77
