He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And he feareth 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 and his mother and his father; 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
