The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
