Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By those that winnow with a winnowing 1 and those that carry the burden [of heavy clouds,] 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 And those who distribute (it) by command, 4 Verily that which ye are promised is true; 5 The Judgement will indeed take place. 6 By the heaven with its passages, 7 You are surely caught in contradictions., 8 He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse. 9 Slain be those who mould from their imaginations. 10 who are dazed in perplexity 11 They ask, "When will the Day of Judgement come?" 12 On the Day of Judgment they will be punished by the fire 13 [and will be told:] "Taste this your trial! It is this that you were so hastily asking for!" 14 The righteous shall live among gardens and fountains, 15 receiving their reward from their Lord. They had been righteous people before the Day of Judgment. 16 They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope]. 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 And the beggar and the destitute had a share in their wealth. 19 For those with sure belief there are signs in the earth, 20 and also in your own selves. Do you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and that which ye are promised. 22 Then, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is the truth (i.e. what has been promised to you), just as it is the truth that you can speak. 23
