The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount; 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 On an open record. 3 by the much-frequented House, 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 there is none to avert it. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. 18 [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
