The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them. 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding, 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 Behold, We let loose upon them a raging storm wind on a day of bitter misfortune: 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
