The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
