And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and to whom We had given the luxuries and comforts of this life, said: "He is no more than a human being like you, he eats of that which you eat, and drinks of what you drink. 33 So if you follow a man like yourself you will certainly be doomed. 34 Does he promise you that when you die and have become dust and bones, that you will be brought forth again? 35 ۞ Away, away with that you are promised! 36 There is naught but our life in this world; we die and we live and we shall not be raised again. 37 "He is only a man who has invented a lie against Allah, but we are not going to believe in him." 38 He said, “My Lord! Help me as they deny me.” 39 God said, "Before long they will be filled with regret." 40 And then the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them, justly and unavoidably, and We caused them to become as the flotsam of dead leaves and the scum borne on the surface of a torrent: and so - away with those evildoing folk! 41 Thereafter, after them, We produced other generations; 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 Then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time there came to a nation its messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations. So away with a people who do not believe. 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority 45 To Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs, but they behaved insolently and they were people self-exalting (by disobeying their Lord, and exalting themselves over and above the Messenger of Allah). 46 And they said: What! shall we believe in two mortals like ourselves while their people serve us? 47 So they denied them, and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book that people might be guided by it. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and gave them shelter on a peaceful hillside watered by a fresh spring. 50
