The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Beneficent Allah, 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 has created man, 3 Taught him the mode of expression. 4 The sun and the moon move according to a fixed reckoning; 5 And the herbs and the trees - both (alike) prostrate in adoration. 6 And the Firmament has He raised high, and He has set up the Balance (of Justice), 7 So that none may err against the scales, 8 Therefore, maintain just measure and do not transgress against the Balance. 9 He positioned the earth for all the creatures: 10 Therein is fruit and date-palms, producing spathes (enclosing dates); 11 and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. 12 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 13 He created man from clay like [that of] pottery. 14 whereas the invisible beings He has created out of a confusing flame of fire. 15 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 18 He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together, 19 In-between the twain is a barrier which they pass not. 20 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 21 There come forth from them pearls, both large and small. 22 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 23 To Him only belong the sailing ships, raised above the sea like hills. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
