The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water gushing, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
