And recall what time Allah took a bond from the prophets saying whatever I vouchsafed unto you of Book and Wisdom, and, thereafter there cometh unto you an apostle confessing to that which is with you, ye shall surely believe in him and succour him. He said: assent ye, and take ye My burthen thereunto? They said: we assent. He said: then bear witness, and I am, with you among the witnesses. 81 Then any one who turns away will be a transgressor." 82 So do they desire a religion other than the religion of Allah, whereas to Him has submitted whoever is in the heavens and the earth, willingly or grudgingly, and it is to Him they will return? 83 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "We believe in Allah and in what has been sent down to us, and what was sent down to Ibrahim (Abraham), Isma'il (Ishmael), Ishaque (Isaac), Ya'qub (Jacob) and Al-Asbat [the twelve sons of Ya'qub (Jacob)] and what was given to Musa (Moses), 'Iesa (Jesus) and the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between one another among them and to Him (Allah) we have submitted (in Islam)." 84 And if one seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted from him; and he is among the losers in the Hereafter. 85 How shall Allah guide a people who disbelieved after their belief and (after) they bore witness that the messenger is true and after clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty) had come unto them. And Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk. 86 For such the requital is the curse of God and the angels and of men. 87 there they shall live for ever. Their punishment shall not be lightened, nor shall they be given respite. 88 Except for those who repent after that and correct themselves. For indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. 89 Indeed those who disbelieve after having accepted faith, and advance further in their disbelief – their repentance will never be accepted; and it is they who are the astray. 90 Lo! those who disbelieve, and die in disbelief, the (whole) earth full of gold would not be accepted from such an one if it were offered as a ransom (for his soul). Theirs will be a painful doom and they will have no helpers. 91
