Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
We sent Noah to his people telling him, "Warn your people before a painful torment approaches them". 1 He said: O my people! verily I am unto you a warner manifest. 2 That you should serve Allah and be careful of (your duty to) Him and obey me: 3 He will forgive you your sins, and will defer you to an appointed term. Verily the term of Allah when it cometh shall not be deferred, if ye but knew. 4 He said: My Lord! Lo! I have called unto my people night and day 5 But my invitation increased them not except in flight. 6 And lo! whenever I call unto them that Thou mayst pardon them they thrust their fingers in their ears and cover themselves with their garments and persist (in their refusal) and magnify themselves in pride. 7 Then verily I have called unto them publicly 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 "Saying, 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; for He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 He will let loose the sky for you in plenteous rain, 11 And will give you increase of wealth and sons, and give you gardens and springs of water. 12 What is the matter with you that you do not want the Greatness of Allah, 13 When He created you by (divers) stages? 14 "'Do you not see how God has created seven heavens in full harmony with one another, 15 and made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp, 16 And Allah has brought you forth from the (dust of) earth. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 29, Page 97]. 17 ‘And He will then take you back to it, and again remove you from it.” 18 Allah has made the earth spread out for you 19 That you may follow therein roads of passage.' " 20
