The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the sun and his brightness, 1 By the moon when it followeth it, 2 by the day, when it displays it, 3 and the night as it veils it darkly! 4 By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure; 5 And the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 and by the soul and that (Power) which designed it 7 Then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him; 8 He who purifies it will prosper, 9 And indeed he fails who corrupts his ownself (i.e. disobeys what Allah has ordered by rejecting the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism or by following polytheism, etc. or by doing every kind of evil wicked deeds). 10 Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression, 11 When the basest of them broke forth 12 But the Messenger of Allah [Salih (Saleh)] said to them: "Be cautious! Fear the evil end. That is the she-camel of Allah! (Do not harm it) and bar it not from having its drink!" 13 But they gave him the lie, and cruelly slaughtered her - whereupon their Sustainer visited them with utter destruction for this their sin, destroying them all alike: 14 He does not fear the result (of their destruction). 15
