The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
