The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 on a great day 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 It is a written book, 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
