The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the great news - 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
