There is a sign in the dead earth for them which We quicken, and produce from it grain which they eat. 33 And We produce therein orchard with date-palms and vines, and We cause springs to gush forth therein: 34 That they may eat of the fruit thereof; and their hands worked it not. Will they not, therefore, give thanks? 35 Glory be to Him Who created pairs of all things, of what the earth grows, and of their kind and of what they do not know. 36 And a sign for them is the night; We strip the day out of it, thereupon they are in darkness. 37 And [they have a sign in] the sun: it runs in an orbit of its own [and] that is laid down by the will of the Almighty, the All-Knowing; 38 And the moon, We have determined it in phases till it returns like an old palmbranch. 39 It is not permitted to the Sun to catch up the Moon, nor can the Night outstrip the Day: Each (just) swims along in (its own) orbit (according to Law). 40 Another Sign for them is that We carried all their offspring in the laden vessel 41 and [that] We create for them things of a similar kind, on which they may embark [in their travels]; 42 Should We so wish, We can drown them, and there will be none to heed their cries of distress, nor will they be rescued. 43 Unless it be a mercy from Us, and as an enjoyment for a while. 44 And when it is said unto them: fear that which is before you and that which is behind you, that haply ye may find mercy, they withdraw. 45 Not a Sign comes to them from among the Signs of their Lord, but they turn away therefrom. 46 And when they are told, "Spend ye of (the bounties) with which Allah has provided you," the Unbelievers say to those who believe: "Shall we then feed those whom, if Allah had so willed, He would have fed, (Himself)? Ye are in nothing but manifest error." 47 They also say, 'When shall this promise come to pass, if you speak truly?' 48 They await not but one shout, which shall lay hold of them while they are yet wrangling. 49 Then they cannot make bequest, nor can they return to their own folk. 50
