The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
