The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 And rejects the best, 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
