Bring to mind Our servant Job who cried to his Lord, "Satan has afflicted me with distress and suffering." 41 [and thereupon was told:] "Strike [the ground] with thy foot: here is cool water to wash with and to drink!" 42 And We gave him (back) his family, and along with them the like thereof, as a Mercy from Us, and a Reminder for those who understand. 43 And (it was said unto him): Take in thine hand a branch and smite therewith, and break not thine oath. Lo! We found him steadfast, how excellent a slave! Lo! he was ever turning in repentance (to his Lord). 44 And remember Our bondmen Ibrahim, and Ishaq, and Yaqub – the men of power and knowledge. 45 We distinguished them for the distinct remembrance of the abode (of the Hereafter). 46 And verily they are with us of the elect of the excellent ones. 47 And remember Isma'il (Ishmael), Al-Yasa'a (Elisha), and Dhul-Kifl (Isaiah), all are among the best. 48 This is a Reminder, and verily, for the Muttaqun (pious and righteous persons - see V. 2:2) is a good final return (Paradise), 49 the Gardens of Eden whose gates shall be open to them, 50 Reclining on pillows, in it they ask for fruits and drinks in plenty. 51 ۞ And beside them will be chaste females (virgins) restraining their glances only for their husbands, (and) of equal ages. 52 Such is the Promise made, to you for the Day of Account! 53 Our provision (for you) will never be exhausted. 54 This (shall be so); and most surely there is an evil resort for the inordinate ones; 55 Hell! Where they will burn, and worst (indeed) is that place to rest! 56 All this; so let them taste it - boiling water and pus, 57 and, coupled with it, further [suffering] of a similar nature. 58 Here is a troop rushing headlong with you! No welcome for them! truly, they shall burn in the Fire! 59 They will say to them, "You are not welcome! It was you who brought this on us, an evil place to stay," 60 They shall say: Our Lord! whoever prepared it first for us, add Thou to him a double chastisement in the fire. 61 And they will say, "Why do we not see men whom we used to count among the worst? 62 Was it that we (only) took them in scorn, or have our eyes (now) turned aside from them? 63 This contending of the inmates of Hell will surely be real. 64
