and We saved the Children of Israel from a humiliating punishment 30 from Pharaoh who was most prominent among the prodigals. 31 We knowingly exalted them (i.e., the Children of Israel) above other peoples of the world 32 And granted them signs in which there was a plain trial. 33 Verily these! they say: 34 There is naught but our first death and we shall not be raised again. 35 So bring our ancestors back, if you are truthful." 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them because they were indeed Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.). 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play, 38 We created them not save with truth; but most of them know not. 39 The Day of Final Decision is the appointed time for all; 40 The day on which, no friends will benefit each other at all, nor will they be helped. (Except those who are pious – see verse 43:67) 41 except for those to whom God grants mercy. He is Majestic and All-merciful. 42
