Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the swift scatterers 1 which carry clouds laden with water, 2 and those speeding along with ease, 3 and distributing the command of God at His behest! 4 Verily, that which you are promised is true indeed, 5 And verily Judgment and Justice must indeed come to pass. 6 I swear by the heaven full of ways. 7 your ideas are confused. 8 though only those who are averse to the Truth will turn away from (believing in it). 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 who are steeped in ignorance and heedlessness. 11 They ask: When is the day of judgment? 12 The day they will be burnt in the Fire, 13 (And it will be said unto them): Taste your torment (which ye inflicted). This is what ye sought to hasten. 14 Verily the God-fearing will be amid Gardens and water-springs. 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 They used to sleep only a little during the night. 17 And ere the dawning of each day would seek forgiveness, 18 and in their wealth was a share for whosoever asked and for whosoever was prevented. 19 And on the earth are signs for the certain [in faith] 20 And within yourselves. Can you not perceive? 21 There is in the heavens your sustenance, and whatever has been promised you. 22 This, by the Lord of the heavens and the earth is as certain as your ability to speak. 23
