The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic." 2 And deny, and follow their own vain desires; but every matter is determined at its time. 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 6 They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad, 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ Before them the people of Nuh rejected, so they rejected Our servant and called (him) mad, and he was driven away. 9 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.” 10 So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 floated on under Our eyes: a vindication of him who had been rejected. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of bitter ill-luck 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
