A crowd of earlier generations 39 and also a large throng from those of later times. 40 Those on the Left: how unfortunate are those on the Left! 41 In fierce hot wind and boiling water, 42 And shadow of black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor agreeable. 44 Verily, before that, they indulged in luxury, 45 and had persisted in the Great Sin. 46 and would say: "What! After we have died and become mere dust and bones, shall we, forsooth, be raised from the dead? 47 And so will our fathers?" 48 Say: "Yea, those of old and those of later times, 49 shall be gathered to the appointed time of a known day. 50 Then you, you misguided ones, who deny the truth, 51 Shall surely eat of the tree of Az-Zqqum. 52 You shall fill your bellies with it, 53 And shall be drinkers thereon of boiling water. 54 You shall drink it as the thirsty camels drink." 55 This will be their welcome on the Day of Judgment. 56 We have created you, so why do you not believe? 57 So what is your opinion regarding the semen you discharge? 58 Do you create a child out of it, or are We its creators? 59 We have decreed death to you all, and We are not unable, 60 In order that We may bring in your place the likes of you and make you grow into what you know not. 61 And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember? 62 Behold! that which ye sow. 63 Do you yourselves sow it, or are We the Sowers? 64 If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder, 65 Verily we are undone. 66 “In fact, we were unfortunate!” 67 And have you seen the water that you drink? 68 Do ye bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We? 69 If We will, We would make it bitter, why then do you not give thanks? 70 Have you ever considered the fire which you kindle? 71 Was it ye who made the tree thereof to grow, or were We the grower? 72 We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers, 73 (Muhammad), glorify your Lord, the Great One. 74
