I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 [And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 "Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
