The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
