The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 Verily We! We created man from a sperm of mixtures, that We might prove him, wherefore We made him hearing, seeing. 2 Indeed, We have guided him to the path, he is either grateful or ungrateful. 3 Lo! We have prepared for disbelievers manacles and carcans and a raging fire. 4 Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, 5 A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. 6 Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, 7 They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, 8 [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: 9 “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” 10 Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; 11 And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments]. 12 Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, 13 And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and goblets of crystal,- 15 Also there will be crystal clear goblets of silver containing the exact measure of drink which they desire. 16 They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water 17 Which is a spring in Paradise called Salsabeel. 18 ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; 19 And when thou lookest, it is there thou wilt see a Bliss and a Realm Magnificent. 20 On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. 21 "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." 22
