The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
