He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 You pay full attention, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and fearfully, 9 You neglect. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 and fruits and fodder 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
