The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 The closing night, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
