The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17

True are the words of God the Almighty.
