The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
