The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
