The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
