The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 and those that blow gently, 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 and hastily turned away, 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
