Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)

Ha. Mim. 1 By oath of the clear Qur’an. 2 We have made it a Qur'an in Arabic, that ye may be able to understand (and learn wisdom). 3 It is in the Origin of the Book with Us, sublime and wise. 4 Shall We then take away from you the admonition because ye are a people extravagant? 5 And how many a prophet did We send to people of olden times! 6 But never did a prophet come at whom they did not scoff. 7 So We destroyed far more powerful (nations) than they. The example of earlier people is there. 8 And if you should ask them, Who created the heavens and the earth? they would most certainly say: The Mighty, the Knowing One, has created them; 9 The One Who made the earth a bed for you, and made roads for you in it, so that you may be guided. 10 And He it is who sends down, again and again, waters from the sky in due measure: and [as] We raise therewith dead land to life, even thus will you be brought forth [from the dead]. 11 And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount. 12 So that when you sit astride of them and think of the bounties of your Lord, you may say: "All glory to Him who subjugated these for us. We were incapable of doing so. 13 To our Lord we shall all return". 14 And from* His bondmen, they appointed a portion for Him; man is indeed an open ingrate. (* Appointed some of His creation as His sons and daughters). 15
