And this (Qur'an) is a revelation from the Lord of all the worlds, 192 Which the True Spirit hath brought down 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayest be of the warners, 194 In eloquent Arabic. 195 And verily, [the essence of] this [revelation] is indeed found in the ancient books of divine wisdom [as well]. 196 Was it not a proof for them that the learned men of Israel knew about this? 197 If We had revealed it to a nonArab, 198 And had he recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused it (the denial of the Quran) to enter the hearts of the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.). 200 They will not believe in it to the extent that they see the painful punishment. 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are not aware, 202 Then will they say: "Can we be given respite?" 203 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 204 Do you not see that even if We give them respite for years 205 And then the promise that is given to them, does come upon them- 206 All that with which they used to enjoy shall not avail them. 207 And never did We destroy a township which did not have Heralds of warning, 208 to admonish them. We have never been unjust. 209 And the devils have not brought the revelation down. 210 it is not for them, nor are they able. 211 They have been precluded from hearing it. 212 So call not on any other god with Allah, or thou wilt be among those under the Penalty. 213 And warn your nearest relations, 214 and spread the wings of thy tenderness over all of the believers who may follow thee; 215 If they disobey you, say: 'I am quit of what you do' 216 And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful, 217 Who sees you when you arise 218 And your movements among those who bow in homage to God. 219 Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 O people, shall I tell you on whom it is that satans descend? 221 They descend upon every lying, sinful one, 222 on those who whisper hearsay in the ears of people; and most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets - it is the seduced who follow them. 224 Have you not seen them wandering and bewildered in every valley 225 preaching what they do not practice. 226 Not so the true believers who do good works and remember God with fervour and defend themselves only after they are wronged. The wrongdoers will soon know how evil a turn their affairs will take. 227
Almighty God's Truth.
