The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to the stinters who, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 On a Great Day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
