Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man assume that We will never assemble his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We are able to shape again his fingers. 4 None the less man chooses to deny what lies ahead of him, 5 asking [derisively,] "When is that Resurrection Day to be?" 6 When the eye is bewildered, 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 And the sun and moon are joined together,- 9 Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? 10 By no means! No place of safety! 11 To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. 12 On that Day, man will be told of all that he has sent before and what he has left behind. 13 nay, man shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 Although he tender his excuses. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 Surely its collection and recitation are Our responsibility. 17 Therefore when We have recited it, follow its recitation. 18 Then lo! upon Us (resteth) the explanation thereof. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 And leave alone the Hereafter. 21 (Some) faces on that day shall be bright, 22 Waiting for their Lord. 23 And on that Day there shall be scowling faces, 24 knowing that a crushing calamity is about to befall them. 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 and it is said: 'Who is a healing chanter' 27 and when he thinks it is the time of departure 28 and calf is inter-twined with calf. 29 unto thy Lord that Day is the drive. 30
