The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 They deny the truth and follow their own whims, every matter has its appointed time, 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 And We bore him on that which was made of planks and nails 13 floated on under Our eyes: a vindication of him who had been rejected. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 16 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 17 TO THE TRUTH gave the lie [the tribe of] Ad: and how severe was the suffering which I inflicted when My warnings were disregarded! 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 It swept people away as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22
