NAY, but consider the moon! 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 except those of the right hand 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 Of evil-doers: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 we fed not the needy, 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
