The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
A supplicant asked for a punishment bound to happen 1 The unbelievers-- there is none to avert it-- 2 From Allah, the Lord of the ways of ascent. 3 To Him the angels and the Spirit (Gabriel) ascend in a day, the measure of which is fifty thousand years. 4 So be patient (O Muhammad SAW), with a good patience. 5 They see it [the Day of Judgement] to be far off, 6 But We see it [as] near. 7 On the day when the heavens become like molten metal. 8 The mountains like the tufts of (carded) wool, 9 And no friend inquires after friend 10 though they are in sight of each other. To ransom himself from the punishment of that Day, the sinner will wish that he might even ransom himself by his sons, 11 And his wife and his brother 12 the kinsmen who gave him shelter, 13 and all those on earth. 14 By no means! It will be the fierce flame 15 Plucking out (his being) right to the skull!- 16 calling him who drew back and turned away, 17 and who accumulated wealth without spending it for a good purpose. 18 ۞ VERILY, man is born with a restless disposition. 19 when evil visits him, impatient, 20 And niggardly when good befalls him 21 Save worshippers. 22 [and] who incessantly persevere in their prayer 23 those in whose wealth is a right known 24 to those who ask [for help] and to the destitute; 25 those who firmly believe in the Day of Recompense, 26 and who stand in dread of their Sustainer's chastisement 27 Lo! the doom of their Lord is that before which none can feel secure - 28 And those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts from illegal sexual acts). 29 Save with their wives and those whom their right hands possess, for thus they are not blameworthy; 30 but those who go beyond that limit are transgressors; 31 And those who are faithful to their trusts and their covenant 32 and who stand firm whenever they bear witness; 33 And those who keep a guard on their prayer, 34 Those shall be in gardens, honored. 35
