۞ Thy Lord has decreed you shall not serve any but Him, and to be good to parents, whether one or both of them attains old age with thee; say not to them 'Fie' neither chide them, but speak unto them words respectful, 23 And lower unto them the wing of submission through mercy, and say: My Lord! Have mercy on them both as they did care for me when I was little. 24 Your Lord knows what is in your souls. If you would be righteous, know that He is All-forgiving to those who turn to Him in repentance. 25 And give to the kindred his due and to the Miskin (poor) and to the wayfarer. But spend not wastefully (your wealth) in the manner of a spendthrift. [Tafsir. At-Tabari, Vol. 10, Page 158 (Verse 9:60)]. 26 Indeed those who needlessly waste are brothers of the devils; and the devil is very ungrateful to his Lord. 27 And if you turn away from them to seek mercy from your Lord, which you hope for, speak to them a gentle word. 28 And do not keep your hand tied to your neck nor open it completely, lest you remain seated – reproached, weary. 29 Certainly your Lord provides with open hands whosoever He will, but according to capacity, for He knows and watches His creatures. 30
